Ketoconazole is an anti-fungal shampoo that kills the yeast believed to cause dandruff.

Use the shampoo 2-3 times weekly. Apply 5mL (1 teaspoonful) to your scalp and lather it in in, leaving it to sit for approximately 3-5 minutes before rinsing off. If dandruff also affects your ears, eyebrows, forehead, nose, or chest you can apply to those areas as well!

Discoloration of dyed hair and hair texture changes are possible, but less common. Hair texture changes are reversible once the shampoo is discontinued.

Ketoconazole shampoo is usually well-tolerated. Although less common, some people can experience itching, irritation, redness, or dry skin. Rarely, angioedema has been reported. If you experience any serious side effects stop the medication and speak to your primary care doctor or seek medical help.
